A District communications project was recognized at the annual Florida Government Communicators Association (FGCA) Awards Banquet. The Crystal Awards recognize community groups and agencies that are taking positive steps to protect water resources.

Partners in Watershed Education Awards
The District’s “Partners in Watershed Education Awards” received third place in the Special Events category, which recognizes special one-time activities such as dedications, ribbon cuttings, anniversaries, commemorations and other celebrations. The District’s awards ceremony recognized District-sponsored water resources education projects throughout the District’s 16-county area. Awardees included youth and community education projects that effectively educated audiences about water resources protection and conservation. The event was also created to encourage the awardees to continue their efforts in watershed education.

Melissa Roe, senior communications coordinator, and Allen Yarbrough, graphics illustrator, worked on the project and accepted the award on the District’s behalf.

The FGCA Awards Banquet was held Dec. 6 in Orlando.
