Representatives from Pasco County and the District recently celebrated the completion of the Starkey Trail extension.

The 2.5-mile paved trail extends through Starkey Wilderness Park. The trail links the park to the Suncoast Trail, which stretches from northern Hillsborough County to the Hernando-Citrus County line. The park is now connected to 20,000 acres of public conservation lands, a regional greenway trail, and is an important part of the natural and recreational resources within the Suncoast Parkway’s Scenic Corridor in the four-county region.

Judy Whitehead, Governing Board secretary and Chair of the Coastal Rivers Basin Board, and Kathryn Starkey, Pinellas-Anclote River Basin Board member, both took part in the dedication.

The Coastal Rivers Basin Board, Pasco County and Tampa Bay Water funded the Starkey Trail extension.
