Gov. Charlie Crist on March 22 appointed Richard Matassa and Fritz Musselmann to the District’s Coastal Rivers Basin Board.

Matassa, from Spring Hill in Hernando County, is the managing director of A Civil Design Group. He was appointed to succeed Elaine Perry. His term ends March 1, 2012.

Musselmann, from Spring Hill in Pasco County, was the director of the District’s Land Resources Department from 1981 until he retired from the District in January 2009. He was appointed to succeed Randall Maggard. His term ends March 1, 2013.

The Coastal Rivers Basin includes portions of Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties. The District has seven regional Basin Boards that provide guidance for local programs that are specific to the basins they protect. Basin Board members are unpaid citizen volunteers appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. They serve three-year staggered terms.
