District Seeks Public Input on Sumter County Lake Levels
The Southwest Florida Water Management District is seeking public input about proposed minimum flows and levels (MFL) for Lake Deaton, Lake Okahumpka, Lake Miona and Big Gant Lake in Sumter County.
District to Treat Braden River for Water
The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating water hyacinths and water lettuce on portions of the Braden River Oct. 17-20. The sites are located south of State Road 70 in Manatee County.
District to Treat Hydrilla on Rainbow River
The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating hydrilla in Marion County Oct. 17-20. Infestations of hydrilla will be treated on the Rainbow River from the County Road 484 bridge to where the river meets the Withlacoochee River.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be conducting “controlled, prescribed burns” during the months of October through December on the District’s Deer Prairie Creek property. The property is located north and south of I-75 between mile markers 186 and 190.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be conducting “controlled, prescribed burns” during October on the District’s Weekiwachee Preserve. The property is approximately one mile west of Spring Hill.

District Sets FY2006 Millage Rates and Budget
The Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board Tuesday adopted the agency’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2006 millage rates and combined budget. The District’s millage rate remains the same as last year for the General Fund.
