Board agrees to desalination settlement
The Southwest Florida Water Management District Tuesday voted 7-4 to approve a settlement agreement with Tampa Bay Water that resolves a dispute over how much water a seawater desalination facility must produce. The agreement also promotes environmental restoration.

District to Treat Hydrilla on Rainbow River
The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating hydrilla on the Rainbow River Jan. 17-19. Infestations of hydrilla immediately upriver of KP Hole Park to the Withlacoochee River in Marion County will be treated.
Peace River to be treated for Water Hyacinth and Water Lettuce
The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating water hyacinth and water lettuce on a portion of the Peace River Jan. 17-19. The treatment area is located between Bartow and Wachula in Polk and Hardee counties.
