- Each rider must carry proof of horse's current negative Coggins test.
- Horse-drawn buggy riding requires a free day-use reservation for buggy access behind locked gate. Reservations can be made through the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve page.
- Florida law requires equestrians under 16 to wear helmets.

- Primary access point about 7 miles northeast of I-75 on Morris Bridge Road (CR 579), 0.4 miles north of Branchton Park.
- Vehicle access to southern portion of trail is through Washburn gate. Day-use reservations required to access equestrian parking area.
