Lee Kimbell has more than 10 years of experience working in the private sector planning and designing innovative water projects related to wastewater, drinking water and water reuse.
Kimbell has worked for Black & Veatch as a Water & Wastewater Process Engineer in the past five years. His current work includes design of systems related to water reuse, biological nutrient removal, process modeling, drinking water treatment, PFAS treatment, and conventional and advanced wastewater treatment processes. Kimbell has experience in the design and permitting of potable reuse facilities, including JEA’s H2.O facility, Zoo Miami reuse study, and FPL’s Clean Water Recovery Center.
Kimbell received his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Marquette University, where his research focused on metals and corrosion inhibitors and their impacts on bacterial communities and antibiotic resistance in drinking water distribution systems. Prior to that he also completed his bachelor’s degree in marine biology at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and master’s degree in civil/environmental engineering at Marquette University.
Kimbell is a member of WateReuse Florida and serves as the chair of the New Technology and Innovation Committee. He is also a member of the Florida WaterEnvironment Association,the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation.
