Corps Breaks Ground for Wares Creek Project

Groundbreaking for the long-awaited Wares Creek Flood Protection Project took place in the fall. A joint effort between Manatee County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and funded in part by the District, the project will reduce flood damage within the Cedar Hammock Drainage Basin located in Manatee County. The District is funding $12.6 million of the project’s $46.9 million cost.
