District staff welcomed approximately 70 students to District headquarters in Brooksville for the District’s 9th Annual “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.” This year’s theme was “Sharing Power and Possibility.”
The District’s service offices in Tampa, Bartow and Sarasota also took part.
Grade school and junior high students spent the morning touring District departments and taking part in hands-on demonstrations.
A special morning program was developed for high school students. They received advice on interviewing skills, careers at the District and job search techniques.
Students spent the afternoon “job shadowing” their parents or guardians.
The District’s employee committee provided refreshments for the students at District headquarters and the Tampa Service Office.
“Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” is a nationwide learning program that allows children to explore the many opportunities available to them in the workplace. The program began as “Take Our Daughters to Work Day” in 1994 and has now grown to include sons.
