District helps fund Hillsborough River cleanup project
The Hillsborough River will get a dose of spring cleaning this Sunday, April 22 when Lowry Park Zoo’s Boy Scouts of America Zoo Troop 47 holds its annual cleanup from 8 a.m. until noon. The cleanup will focus on the Lowry Park Boat Ramp area and River Park by the Sulphur Springs water tower.
State declares Peace River Watershed Awareness Week
The Florida House of Representatives and Senate each adopted a resolution last week declaring April 14 through April 21 Peace River Watershed Awareness Week.

District Approves Water Use Permit for The Villages
The Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board Tuesday approved a consolidated water use permit that will increase The Villages’ water supply from 14.7 million gallons per day (mgd) to 23.7 mgd of ground and surface water to meet its future needs.
