Aerial Mapping Project Begins in Sumter County »

District Prohibits Campfires on Campgrounds »
Due to extremely dry weather conditions and high wildfire danger, the Southwest Florida Water Management District is prohibiting campfires on all District campgrounds until further notice. The National Weather Service and the Florida Forest Service (FFS) indicate the Forecast Fire Danger Indices are in the high to very high category throughout the District’s 16-county service area. At its August 26 meeting, the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s newly merged Hillsborough River Basin Board adopted a fiscal year 2010 (FY2010) millage rate of 0.2421 mill. Step Forward In Lake Panasoffkee Restoration Project »
Efforts to restore Lake Panasoffkee recently took a major step forward. The dredging of Step 2 of the Lake Panasoffkee Restoration Council’s four-step, multi-million dollar restoration plan began July 7. One-Stop Well Construction Permitting The District has expanded its online permitting services. The District began offering services online last year when water use permit (WUP) holders were allowed to submit required data conditions over the Internet. The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) will temporarily close the Wysong-Coogler Dam airboat slide for maintenance and repairs beginning Tuesday, April 18 for approximately two weeks.
