Coordinated Flood Relief Efforts for Lake Bonny Following Hurricane Milton and Helene
In response to severe flooding near Lake Bonny in Lakeland, Florida, caused by Hurricanes Milton and Helene, a large-scale emergency relief effort has been organized by the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), the City of Lakeland, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the State Emergency Response Team (SERT). This mission, initiated at the City of Lakeland's request, utilizes specialized 12-inch pumps and extensive hose networks provided by the Army Corps to manage the high water levels.
