MEDIA ALERT: District Dedicates Chassahowitzka Springs Restoration

*WHAT:* The Chassahowitzka Springs sediment removal project began in May
2013 and resulted in the removal of approximately 3,000 cubic
yards of material from the springs. Removing accumulated
sediments improved the water clarity and water quality as well
at the bottom habitat for plants and animals. This project is
part of the District's overall springs restoration efforts to
improve the ecological, recreational and economic value of
major springs in the region. Additionally, many pre-historic
and historic artifacts were collected and cataloged during this
process, and will be on display during the dedication event.
Archaeologists will be on site to answer questions about the
artifacts.
