This event is part of Watershed Wonders Week, a grass roots campaign aimed at reaching the people who live in the Brooker Creek watershed. Watershed Wonders Week is Oct. 1623.

Activities during this event include the chance to spin the “Watershed Wonders Wheel” for free giveaways, children’s activities, answers to questions about Florida Friendly plants, irrigation clock demonstrations and other educational exhibits.

The District’s mascot, Ripply, a Florida Yards & Neighborhoods representative and an irrigation expert will also be at the event.

A watershed is an area of land that water flows across as it moves toward a common body of water, such as a stream, river lake or coast.

The goal of this campaign is to inform the residents of the Brooker Creek watershed that everyone lives in a watershed and there is still time to protect their watershed.

Five ways Brooker Creek watershed residents can protect their watershed include:

*making water conservation a habit

*using Florida-friendly landscaping to reduce water, fertilizer and pesticide use

*choosing a lawn care service that uses environmentally friendly products and practices

*disposing motor oil properly

*inspecting your septic tank regularly
