The "Southwest Florida Water Management District(Southwest Florida Water Management District)":/ will temporarily close trails during November and December in the Flatwoods Park and Wilderness Park areas of the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve in Hillsborough County.
The "Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve(Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve)":/recreation/areas/lowerhillsborough.html is located east of I-75 and north of US 301, approximately three miles northeast of Temple Terrace.
Flatwoods Park
Off-road bicycling and hiking trails in "Flatwoods Park(Flatwoods Park)":/recreation/areas/lh-flatwoods.html will be closed from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3 for wildlife counts. The closures will not affect paved trails. The District will be conducting surveys to gain a better understanding of wildlife use and population trends in the park. Flatwoods Park is located at 14302 Morris Bridge Road in Thonotosassa.
Wilderness Park Off Road Trails System
Off-road bicycling and hiking trails and the parking area within the "Wilderness Park Off Road Trails System(Wilderness Park Off Road Trails System)":/recreation/areas/lh-offroadloop.html, also known as the Morris Bridge Bicycle Area, will be closed intermittently between Nov. 30 and Dec. 23, except for weekends, Mondays and holidays. The District will be using heavy equipment to establish fire lines to prepare the area for prescribed burns. Prescribed burns are conducted to improve wildlife habitat and reduce the risk of wildfires. Wilderness Park is located at 12573 Morris Bridge Road in Thonotosassa. The Morris Bridge Bicycle Area is located south of Morris Bridge Road.
