District and City of Crystal River to Hold Ribbon Cutting for Reclaimed Water Project connecting the City to Duke Energy

The "Southwest Florida Water Management District":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/ (District) and City of Crystal River will hold a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the completion of the project to transport reclaimed water from the City to the Duke Energy power plant in Citrus County.

The event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. at the City of Crystal River Sprayfield, located at 7040 N. Citrus Ave. in Crystal River. The entrance is approximately five miles north of US Hwy. 19. Look for the forestry tower near the entrance.

This project is reducing groundwater pumping and wastewater nutrient loading in the Crystal River/Kings Bay springshed. It is a successful public-private partnership among the City of Crystal River, Duke Energy, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

All activities will take place outside so please wear appropriate shoes and attire.
