Apply Now for 2006 Community Education Grants
Applications for the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Community Education Grant program are now available.
District to Treat Hydrilla on Rainbow River
The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating hydrilla in Marion County August 22-25. Infestations of hydrilla will be treated on the Rainbow River from County Road 484 to where the river meets the Withlacoochee River.
District to Treat Water Hyacinths and Water Lettuce in Charlotte County
The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating water hyacinths and water lettuce on portions of Shell Creek and Prairie Creek August 22-25. The sites are located upstream of the Henderson Dam in Charlotte County.
Alafia River Basin Board Sets Millage Rate
At its August 11 meeting, the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Alafia River Basin Board adopted a fiscal year 2006 (FY2006) millage rate of 0.240 mill, which is the same as the current fiscal year.
Northwest Hillsborough Basin Board Sets Millage Rate
At its August 11 meeting, the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Northwest Hillsborough Basin Board adopted a proposed fiscal year 2006 (FY2006) millage rate of 0.268 mill, which is the same as the current fiscal year.
Withlacoochee River Basin Board Adopts Millage Rate
At today’s meeting, the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Withlacoochee River Basin Board adopted a fiscal year 2006 (FY2006) millage rate of 0.265 mill, which is the same as the current fiscal year.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating water hyacinth and water lettuce on the shoreline and canals of Lake Panasoffkee August 15-18.
Pinellas-Anclote River Basin Board Sets Millage Rate
At its August 3 meeting, the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Pinellas-Anclote River Basin Board adopted a fiscal year 2006 (FY2006) millage rate of 0.400 mill, which is the same as the current fiscal year.
Governor Reappoints Coastal Rivers Basin Board Member and Appoints One New Member
Gov. Jeb Bush recently reappointed William Bunch and appointed Samuel Lyons to the Coastal Rivers Basin Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District. The Coastal Rivers Basin Board represents portions of Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus Counties.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating hydrilla on Lake Okahumpka in Sumter County August 1-4.
Lake Tarpon to be Treated for Water Hyacinths
The Southwest Florida Water Management District will be treating water hyacinths on portions of Lake Tarpon Aug. 1-4.Scattered infestations of these plants will be treated within shoreline areas and canals on Lake Tarpon.
