Two additional events are being added to the list of hands-on activities and workshops taking place during Hillsborough River Watershed Awareness Week, which runs Nov. 15-22.
The new events include a shoreline cleanup on Nov. 15 and a Frog Listening Network presentation on Nov. 20. Details for all of the week’s events are listed below.
The Hillsborough River Watershed Awareness Week is a cooperative effort between the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Hillsborough River Basin Board and the Hillsborough River Watershed Alliance.
The Hillsborough River Watershed Alliance is a public-private, non-profit organization that was formed in 1992 as an innovative partnership between federal, state and local governments and agencies, environmental and civic organizations, and numerous citizens dedicated to protecting the natural resources of the Hillsborough River watershed.
The watershed awareness events include:
- “A River Runs Through It” Environmental Fair, Nov. 15, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hillsborough River State Park, 15402 U.S. Hwy. 301 N., Tampa. Canoe tours, guided tram tours, nature walks, kids’ fishing program and more. Admission fee to the state park is $4 for up to eight people per car.
- Community Participation Shoreline Cleanup, Nov. 15, 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Lake Hunter Shore and Boat Ramp, 650 Sikes Blvd., Lakeland. For more information, contact Cindy Hill at (863) 834-8429.
