Public workshops scheduled on Regional Water Supply Plan

The "Southwest Florida Water Management District(Southwest Florida Water Management District)":http://watermatters.org is inviting the public to comment on the draft of an updated "Regional Water Supply Plan(Regional Water Supply Plan)":http://www.WaterMatters.org/rwsp that assesses projected water demands and identifies potential sources of water to meet those demands through the year 2030.

The District is eager to receive comments from the public on the content of the plan, so a significant effort is under way to ensure all affected parties have the opportunity to provide input during the plan update process. As part of the review process, four public workshops are scheduled, one for each region:

* May 6, 10 a.m. to noon at the "District's Sarasota Service Office(Sarasota Service Office)":http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=27.338377,-82.438…, 6750 Fruitville Road, for the Southern Water Use Caution Area: Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties.

* May 11, 10 a.m. to noon at the "District's Bartow Service Office(Bartow Service Office)":http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q=170+Century+Boulevard,+Bartow,+FL+…, 170 Century Boulevard, for the Heartland Planning Region: Hardee, Highlands and Polk counties.

* May 19, 10 a.m. to noon at the "District's Brooksville Headquarters(District Headquarters)":http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q=2379+Broad+Street,+Brooksville,+FL…, 2379 Broad Street, for the Northern Planning Region: Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Levy, Marion and Sumter counties.

* May 24, 10 a.m. to noon at the "District's Tampa Service Office(Tampa Service Office)":http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q=7601+US+301,+Tampa,+FL+33637, 7601 Highway 301 North, for the Tampa Bay Planning Region: Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties.

First published in 2001 and updated every five years, the District is updating the 2006 Regional Water Supply Plan in accordance with Section 373.0361, Florida Statutes.

Those who are unable to attend one of the public input sessions may comment directly on the District's web site at www.WaterMatters.org/rwsp or via email to Planning@WaterMatters.org. Public input opportunities will also be available at the public meetings of the "District's Governing Board, Basin Boards and Advisory Committees(Boards, Meetings, and Events)":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/calendar.
