Public invited to District's Open House in Sarasota to help determine conservation land purchases

News Release

The Southwest Florida Water Management District is holding a public open house to gather input on future conservation land purchases.

The District is evaluating properties that may be eligible for purchase under the Florida Forever Program.

The public is invited to attend an open house Sept. 30, 6 to 8 p.m. at the District’s Sarasota Service Office, 6750 Fruitville Rd. in Sarasota. During the open house residents will be able to view area maps and the list of prospective properties. This meeting will focus on properties in Manatee and Sarasota coutnies.

The Florida Legislature established the Florida Forever Program in 1999. The program continues Florida’s successful land acquisition initiative that has included the Save Our Rivers and Preservation 2000 programs.
