Water Wings and Wild Things returns to the Circle B Bar Reserve after being held at the IMC Agrico Park for the past two years. The popular Polk County event was temporarily moved because the Nature Discovery Center was under construction.
This free, annual event takes place Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Water Wings and Wild Things features nature-based art vendors, workshops, Florida animals, hands-on activities and guided tours of the reserve. Some of the family activities include tree climbing (for six-year-olds and up), kite making, birdhouse building and a butterfly tent. Inside Polk’s Nature Discovery Center, attendees will be able to experience several interactive exhibits that focus on the Green Swamp, water systems and central Florida lakes.
Water, Wings & Wild Things is a collaborative effort of Polk County government agencies, the Southwest Florida Water Management District, and other local municipalities, state agencies, and non-profit organizations. Representatives from these agencies and organizations will have hands-on exhibits and be available to answer questions regarding a variety of issues ranging from water conservation to gardening tips and fire prevention with Smokey the Bear.
Circle B Bar Reserve is located at 4399 Winter Lake Road (S.R. 540) in Lakeland. The entrance is approximately two miles east of U.S. Hwy. 98.
