MEDIA ALERT: District To Dedicate Coral Creek Restoration Project

The "Southwest Florida Water Management District ":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/ (District) will hold a dedication event to celebrate the completion of phase one of the Coral Creek Restoration project. The District, in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Charlotte County, restored approximately 250 acres of uplands and wetlands through this important project.

The event will take place on Wednesday, October 22 at 11 a.m. at the Coral Creek property, located at Rotonda Blvd. S. in Rotonda West.

Invited speakers include, Robert Beltran, Southwest Florida Water Management District Executive Director, Michael A. Moran, Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board Member, Jon Iglehart, Florida Department of Environmental Protection South District Director, Hon. Ken Doherty, Charlotte County Commissioner Chair and Philip Stevens, PhD, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission Research Administrator I.

The Coral Creek Restoration project will help offset habitat losses suffered throughout Charlotte Harbor and will prove valuable for the public and thousands of coastal species that use the Charlotte Harbor ecosystem.

All activities will take place outside so please wear appropriate shoes and attire.
