Treatment involves the spot application of the aquatic herbicide Aquathol Super K to scattered infestations. Treatment areas will be posted with warning signs displaying treatment dates and applicable "water use restrictions(Aquatic plant management herbicide table)":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/waterman/apm/apmtable.htm. Treated river water should not be used for drinking, domestic use or irrigation for seven days following treatment. Water use restrictions apply to treated river water only, not to tap or well water.
"Hydrilla(Invasive Plants)":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/projects/aquaticplants is a troublesome exotic aquatic plant, which escaped into Florida waters during the late 1950s. It is a fast-growing plant that expands quickly. If it is not controlled, recreational activities, navigation, flood control and fish and wildlife populations are negatively impacted.
