District Launches Brooker Creek Web Site

News Release

Residents of the Brooker Creek watershed can learn about their region by visiting the new www.BrookerCreek.org Web site. The site provides information about watershed issues and encourages behavior change that will improve and protect the water resources.

BrookerCreek.org was developed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District and is hosted by the Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center.

The Web site includes general information about watersheds, as well as more detailed information about the Brooker Creek watershed. Youth activities include a section for students and a quiz to test the browser’s knowledge after exploring the Web site.

The Web site is one of many outreach activities associated with the District’s Brooker Creek watershed campaign, “Watershed Wonders Week,” which is Oct. 16 23.

Some of the outreach activities planned for Watershed Wonders Week include a school artwork competition, direct mail, movie theater messaging, television, radio and print ads, a newspaper insert, a homeowner workshop and two radio remotes. Educational materials including watershed protection tip cards and promotional items with a map of the watershed are also being distributed.

The Brooker Creek watershed is located in northern Pinellas and northwestern Hillsborough counties. Visit www.BrookerCreek.org.
