Cooperative Funding Evaluations to Begin

News Release

Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board members this week will begin evaluating proposed projects for the FY2013 Cooperative Funding Initiative.

Governing Board members will meet as regional subcommittees to review proposals and make recommendations to the full board. The meetings at District service offices provide an opportunity for subcommittee members to ask questions of staff and the applicants, and to hear public and stakeholder input. The subcommittees will also identify projects on which they want to see formal presentations during their April meetings.

In April the subcommittees will finalize their recommendations to the full Governing Board for funding consideration.

The Cooperative Funding program leverages District and partner funds on projects that address the District's core mission responsibilities in the areas of water supply, flood protection, water quality and natural systems. District funding covers up to 50 percent of the cost of projects that help create sustainable water resources, enhance conservation efforts, improve water quality, restore natural systems and provide flood protection.
