City of Lake Alfred Offering Low-Flow Toilet Rebates

News Release

The "Southwest Florida Water Management District(Southwest Florida Water Management District)":/ and the "City of Lake Alfred(City of Lake Alfred)":http://www.mylakealfred.com are offering Lake Alfred Utilities customers rebates of up to $100 for replacing their high-flow toilets and faucet aerators.

Replacing older high-flow toilets with water-efficient toilets, which use 1.6 gallons per flush or less, or high efficiency toilets, which use 1.28 gallons per flush, and installing faucet aerators could save an estimated 7,600 gallons per day or a total of 2.8 million gallons per year. There are about 1,300 homes eligible in the City's service areas for participation in the program.

Customers must be current residents of the City of Lake Alfred or located within its surrounding service area to be eligible for the rebate. The toilets must be made and installed before 1995 and use 3.5 gallons of water or more per flush. The rebate program will also include faucet aerators, which will be handed out at no cost to all single family and multifamily customers attending town hall meetings promoting the rebate program.

Educational information will also be provided to customers about water conservation, which will include leak detection and the proper selection of parts for water-saving toilets.

The total cost of this project is $16,200. It is being funded by Southwest Florida Water Management District's "Peace River Basin Board(Peace River Basin Board)":/about/basinboards/peace.php in cooperation with the City of Lake Alfred.
