What: The District and the association are celebrating the dedication of Withlapopka Community Park, which is located within the Flying Eagle Preserve. The park was built as a result of a partnership between the District and the civic association.

Withlapopka Community Park at Flying Eagle Preserve
The Flying Eagle Preserve is 10,950 acres. This property is a mosaic of small lakes, marshes and swamps with numerous scattered islands of forested uplands. The preserve is located in Citrus County.
The property was purchased by the District in 1987.
The Withlapopka Community Park is approximately 50 acres, which was used by Citrus County as a disposal site for spoil dredged from the county’s canals.
The park is the result of a partnership between the District and the Withlapopka Civic Association. Approximately 60 members of the association spent countless hours raising money and constructing the park amenities. The group will also help the District maintain the park.
The park amenities include a parking area, restrooms, picnic tables, barbeque grills, a baseball field, a driving range, horseshoe pits, tetherball, swing set and a hiking trail with rest station benches.
