Rainfall Trend Could Continue in 2016 »
Many residents in the District experienced a wetter-than-average 2015 and more could be on the way for 2016. Most counties saw annual rainfall totals above historical averages, although only Pinellas and Hillsborough received above normal amounts. The Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI) Steering Committee recently accepted the amended Regional Water Supply Plan (RWSP) and the draft 2035 Water Resources Protection and Water Supply Strategies Plan (Solutions Plan). That action sends the documents to the Governing Boards of three central Florida water management districts for consideration. The Southwest Florida Water Management District is proud to announce the recipients of the 2006 Community Education Grant Program. The Southwest Florida Water Management District is working with the City of Winter Haven Utilities to promote water conservation by providing toilet rebates of up to $100 for each high-volume toilet replaced with a low-flow model.High-volume toilets can use three gallons or more per flush, while low-flow toilets use up to 1.6 gallons per flush.Residential customers within the Winter Haven service area are eligible to participate in the low-flow toilet rebate program.
