Important: Beginning July 7, 2026, the Southwest Florida Water Management District will transition Environmental Resource Permitting (ERP) to a new ePermitting system, Appian. All new ERP applications, permit modifications, and pre-application scheduling requests must be submitted through the new system. Well Construction Permitting and Water Use Permitting will continue to use the legacy system, Water Management Information System (WMIS), at this time.
Development of the ePermitting Modernization Project is underway and will provide an enhanced user experience for internal and external customers.

The new mobile-friendly ePermitting system will be on the Appian platform and it will be compatible with multiple web browsers. The new ePermitting system will provide easier navigation and registration, quick access to permit information, enhanced searchability and increased speed for faster submittals. The new system will improve reliability, improve the user experience and provide long‑term sustainability. The enhanced ePermitting platform will continue to uphold rigorous security standards and best practices to ensure your information is always protected.
Timeline
The District’s ePermitting Modernization Project will be introduced in phases, beginning with Environmental Resource Permits (ERP) in July 2026. Future phases will include eCompliance, Water Use and Well Construction permitting. The new system will replace the current Water Management Information System (WMIS) as part of our ongoing commitment to improving your permitting experience.
