Kaylie Kushmer traveled to the Amazon River in Southern Colombia and Brazil last month to help drill wells, run potable water lines to a school and educate children on the hydrologic cycle. Kushmer is the daughter of Danny Kushmer, government affairs program manager.

Kaylie’s trip was in coordination with Wine to Water and South American coordinators Mission Inc. She used her experience as a student Outreach intern to share the importance of fresh and clean water with the children. She brought District posters, bracelets and coloring sheets to help the students understand the concepts.

Because of her experience with the District, Kaylie said she was “ready to take on the mission trip with confidence knowing I could communicate the importance of protecting water.”
