Marc Rutenberg Homes Earns Florida Water Star Designation

Proving you don’t have to give up luxury for efficiency, Marc Rutenberg Homes recently earned the Florida Water Star residential certification for its Castaway III model home in Palm Harbor.

efficiency. The Castaway III is a 4,552-square-foot model home that boasts a Florida-Friendly landscape where 90 percent of the plants are drought tolerant.

“Our clients are pleasantly surprised when they discover they can have a water-efficient landscape that is beautiful and will fit into the look of their neighborhood,” said company President Marc Rutenberg.

The model home also has a variety of options for high-efficiency appliances and fixtures that help conserve water. 

Robin Grantham, District senior communications coordinator, said the model home’s Florida Water Star designation is a great example that any type of home can be built water efficient.

“This home illustrates that even the best high-end showerheads, faucets and fixtures have water conserving options, changing how builders and homeowners think about water conservation,” Grantham said.

Marc Rutenberg Homes prides itself on being a green builder. The Castaway III model home is the company’s first No Electric Bill home and is a LEED Platinum and Net Zero Energy home.
