Engineers Vital to District Mission

It's National Engineers Week, a time when engineers are recognized for their vital work, including at the District where they help minimize flood risks and protect water resources.

“Engineers in various District departments take on a different role but collectively work together to achieve the District’s mission” said Marie Rutter, the District’s staffing specialist.

“A variety of technical and managerial paths are offered at the District, depending on each person’s strengths” said Terese Power, the District’s Engineering and Watershed Management manager.

Starting at entry level positions, there are engineer opportunities for everyone. Through the District’s various bureaus, engineers take on various roles including restoration, water supply, identifying flood risk and permitting.

“Our engineers are vital in making sure our water resources are protected – not polluted,” Power said.

The District also helps staff attain their Professional Engineer (PE) license through tuition reimbursement. This creates more career growth opportunities for the District’s engineers.
