The Southwest Florida Water Management District is working with the cities of Bradenton and Palmetto as well as Manatee County to study the benefits of connecting their existing reclaimed water systems.
The study will show how much reclaimed water can be taken from the City of Bradenton to be reused by the City of Palmetto and Manatee County over the next 20 years.
The study will also develop preliminary designs for the pumping, transmission and control facilities required to interconnect the three reuse systems. In addition, 20-year agreements between the two cities and between the City of Bradenton and the county for implementing and operating the interconnected systems will be developed.
The total project cost is estimated to be $120,000. The District’s share is $40,000. The City of Bradenton will fund $80,000 and plans to receive $20,000 from Manatee County and $20,000 from the City of Palmetto.
