The public is welcome to attend an information meeting to discuss water resources issues and watershed planning in the Roberts Bay North Watershed in Sarasota County.
This public workshop will be held March 15, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Southgate Community Association Building, located at 3145 Southgate Circle in Sarasota.
The Southwest Florida Management District and Sarasota County are evaluating conditions in the watershed, which is located in northwest Sarasota County and the District’s Manasota Basin. The study area extends from coastal areas near Siesta Key to interior portions of Sarasota County near Fruitville Road.
The District and Sarasota County are evaluating the watershed to develop a watershed management plan, which will identify, prioritize and address water resources issues within the watershed. The main goal of this plan is to determine and develop alternatives for protecting and improving water quality within the watershed, and ultimately Roberts Bay North.
During the workshop, general information on watershed conditions, watershed management planning, project objectives and ways the public can help improve conditions will be discussed. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and visit several information stations.
