Developers, engineers and the general public are invited to share ideas to help finalize the watershed management plan for the Charlotte Harbor Community Redevelopment Area at an upcoming meeting.
The purpose of the meeting is to give the public an opportunity to review and comment on the preliminary floodplain maps developed for the area in the vicinity of Charlotte Harbor. The watershed is approximately 3.5 square miles and its boundary is roughly south of Westchester Boulevard, east of Olman Waterway, north of Charlotte Harbor and west of Rowland Drive. The study area also extends north along Kings Highway to Rampart Boulevard.
The meeting is being held Wednesday, June 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Charlotte County Eastport Environmental Campus, 25550 Harbor View Road, Port Charlotte.
In 1992, the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners designated Charlotte Harbor a Community Redevelopment Area and declared themselves the Community Redevelopment Agency in charge of working directly with residents, merchants and government officials while overseeing the redevelopment of the area.
