Project Will Bring Reclaimed Water to Thousands of Residents

News Release

A project funded by the Southwest Florida Water Management District and Hillsborough County will bring reclaimed water to the Lithia-Pinecrest area.

The Lithia-Pinecrest Reclaimed Water Transmission Line Project includes the construction of 12,000 linear feet of 24-inch reclaimed water transmission main line along Lithia Pinecrest Road from Bloomingdale Avenue to the entrance road to the Riverhills Golf Course. The project also includes the related controls and telemetry needed to connect to the county’s South/Central reuse system.

This project will provide approximately 3.5 million gallons per day (gpd) of reclaimed water for irrigation for 4,285 residences in the FishHawk Ranch and Riverhills subdivisions as well as those along Lithia Pinecrest Road. An additional 35 commercial properties and common areas will also be provided with reclaimed water. The Riverhills Golf Course will also be hooked up to the reclaimed water system. The project is expected to offset about 1.8 million gpd of potable water.

The project is a cooperatively funded effort between Hillsborough County and the District’s Alafia River Basin Board. The project is estimated to cost $4.5 million. Hillsborough County will receive up to $517,149 in financial assistance from the District’s Alafia River Basin Board in fiscal year 2005. Funding for additional years is contingent upon basin board approval. Construction is scheduled to begin by May 31, 2005.
