What
District Youth Education staff will visit Brookside Middle School to observe a water education project funded through its Splash! mini-grant program.

Eighth-grade students will demonstrate their project, Water The Adventure Begins. As part of their water education project, the students were given a hurricane scenario. The students were without water for four days and challenged to build a shower out of found materials and bathe in only five gallons of water. This exercise will demonstrate the value of each water drop, inspire a deeper understanding of how much water is wasted when showering and stress the importance of water conservation.

When
Thursday, May 22 from noon to 1 p.m.

Where
Brookside Middle School
3636 Shade Avenue
Sarasota, FL 34239

Why

This is the eleventh year that Splash! mini-grants have been offered to public, private and homeschool teachers in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 within the Districts 16-county area. The grant program offers up to $5,000 per school. This school year there were 137 projects funded throughout the District, totaling approximately $322,000 and involving 94,000 students.
