Governor appoints Governing Board members

Gov. Charlie Crist on April 1 reappointed Todd Pressman, and appointed Jeffrey Adams to the "Southwest Florida Water Management District's(Southwest Florida Water Management District)":http://watermatters.org Governing Board.

"Pressman(Todd Pressman)":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/about/governingboard/profiles/todd_pressm… is from Oldsmar and is the owner and president of Pressman & Associates. His new term ends March 1, 2014. Pressman was elected Board chair in 2009, and is also the co-chair of the Pinellas-Anclote River Basin Board.

Adams is from St. Petersburg and is an attorney and partner with Abbey, Adams, LLP. He was appointed to succeed Sallie Parks, and his term ends March 1, 2014. He will also serve as co-chair of the Pinellas-Anclote River Basin Board.

"Governing Board(Governing Board)":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/about/governingboard members are unpaid, citizen volunteers who are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Florida Senate. The Governing Board sets policy for the District, whose mission is to manage the water and related resources of west central Florida to meet the needs of current and future water users while protecting the environment. Each Governing Board member also serves as chair of a "Basin Boards(Basin Boards)":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/about/basinboards.

The "District(Southwest Florida Water Management District)":http://watermatters.org has seven regional Basin Boards that provide guidance for local programs that are specific to the basins they protect. The District's eighth basin, the Green Swamp, is administered by the Governing Board. Basin Boards work with local governments and other entities on water resource projects that have an impact in local communities. Basin Boards often provide partial funding for these projects in partnership with a local government or local cooperator.
