District renews and modifies Dundee water use permit

News Release

The Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board Tuesday approved the renewal and modification of a water use permit (WUP) for the Town of Dundee to meet the projected population growth through 2012.

Dundee is located approximately five miles east of the City of Winter Haven.

The renewed permit combines two permits and increases the combined total quantity. The previous combined annual average permitted quantity was 1,011,100 gallons of water per day (gpd.) The new permitted quantity is 1,831,000 gpd, which is an increase of 819,900 gpd.

The increase in quantity is based on an estimated increase in population through 2012. As part of the permit, the town is required to validate actual population growth by 2011. If the actual population growth differs from the town’s projections, the permit will need to be modified.

The permit also includes special conditions that require the town to investigate the feasibility of reclaimed water, submit monthly meter readings and submit an annual report on the effectiveness of its water-conserving rate structure.
