District offers the disabled the chance to experience the outdoors

The Southwest Florida Water Management District is working with the group “Outdoors Without Limits,” to provide disabled outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to go hunting on District lands.

“Outdoors Without Limits” is an organization built around communities creating opportunities for disabled individuals to enjoy outdoor activities. The group organizes hunting and fishing events, as well as recreational shooting and other outdoor activities.

Here’s a look at the outdoor opportunities planned on District-owned land this winter and spring.

Dec. 19-21, 2008
Cross Bow/Archery Hunt, Starkey Wilderness Preserve, Serenova Tract, Pasco County

Jan. 9-11, 2009
Muzzle Loader Hunt, Upper Hillsborough, Alston Tract, Pasco County

Jan. 16-18, 2009
Modern Gun Hunt, Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve, Hampton Tract, Polk County

April 19–21, 2009
Spring Turkey Hunt, Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve, Hampton Tract, Polk County

The District properties will be closed to the public during each event.
