District Begins Recruitment for Executive Director Position

The "Southwest Florida Water Management District(Southwest Florida Water Management District)":/ has begun a nationwide search for a new executive director today following the resignation of "David L. Moore":/about/staff/moore.php last month.

The District's "Governing Board(Governing Board)":/about/governingboard accepted Moore's resignation on Friday and appointed the District's General Counsel "William S. Bilenky":/about/staff/bilenky.html to serve as interim executive director, while authorizing District Human Resources staff to begin the recruitment process for a new executive director immediately.

The executive director functions as the chief executive officer of the District, which includes daily direction and operating responsibility for more than 700 full-time staff members, the District's $280 million budget and all organization assets. The executive director is also responsible for recommending and implementing policies adopted by the District's 13-member Governing Board.

The executive director will be appointed by the District's Governing Board. However, the appointment is subject to approval by the Governor and confirmation by the Florida Senate upon employment.
