Disabled hunt to take place at Lake Manatee Reserve

News Release

Approximately 10 disabled hunters are expected to participate in a quail hunt, Feb. 9-11, at the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Gilley Creek Tract within the Lake Manatee Reserve. The property will be closed to the public during the event.

The Lake Manatee Reserve is located east of the lake in Manatee County. The entrance is located north of Lake Manatee on SR 675.

The event, which is organized by the National Wild Turkey Federation/Wheelin’ Sportsmen, is one of seven outdoor events the District and the group have agreed to partner on this year. Other outings include fishing events, recreational shooting, and other outdoor activities.

Event participants are pre-selected. For more information about participating in upcoming activities, visit the National Wild Turkey Federation web site www.nwtf.org.

The events held in conjunction with the District are part of more than 24 activities the Wheelin’ Sportsmen group holds throughout Florida each year.
