Come Play in the Dirt at the Florida Yard Fandango

Homeowners and gardening enthusiasts are invited to play in the dirt at the Florida Yard Fandango. This Florida-friendly gardening event is being held at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) on May 6, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Florida-friendly workshop is partially funded by a $5,000 Community Education Grant from the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Northwest Hillsborough Basin Board.

The goal of this event is promote Florida-friendly landscaping and lawn maintenance because it is beautiful and saves water, time and energy. Participants will tour the butterfly gardens at MOSI and have the opportunity to choose from 24 Florida-friendly landscape workshops, including butterfly gardening, healing herbs and organic pest control.

In addition to the workshops, the Florida Yard Fandango also features a keynote address from Home & Garden radio host Michael Crose, tree care tips from certified arborist Loren Westenberger, known for successfully moving the largest living tree, and the Fandango Vendor Fair.

The $20 registration fee for this program includes your choice of three Florida-friendly workshops, a continental breakfast, a Fandango t-shirt and admission to MOSI.
