Award-Winning Video Featured on PBS

An award-winning video produced by the Southwest Florida Water Management District will be featured on the Bay area public television station WUSF.

“Bringing Back the Bay” is a 30-minute video that looks at the recovery of Tampa Bay and some of the challenges ahead. The improved status of Tampa Bay is the result of a cooperative effort among many agencies in the region.

The video can be seen in the Bay area on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 3 at 12 p.m.

“The recovery of Tampa Bay is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished through partnerships between local, state and federal entities in cooperation with the general public and private sector,” said Mark Hammond, resource management director. “The video highlights several recent successes.”

“Bringing Back the Bay” recently received international recognition when it was awarded an Award of Distinction from the Communicator Awards. The video competed against entries from throughout the United States and several foreign countries.

The video also received second place in the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council’s 13th Annual Future of the Region Awards.

“Bringing Back the Bay” was distributed to government and public access cable television stations in the region. Individual copies were also distributed to schools, libraries and other public gathering places.
