As Operations bureau chief, Jerry Mallams is responsible for overseeing a wide range of activities, including structure operations, land management, construction and data collection. He oversees the 85 District-owned flood control and water conservation structures and canal rights-of-way within the 16-county area. In addition, he oversees the maintenance of 271,000 acres of District conservation lands. His bureau provides construction services for hydrologic restoration projects on District-owned lands and for the District’s Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) Program. The District’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) also resides under Mallams’ bureau.
Mallams began his career at the District in 1996 as an ECO Associate in the Brooksville Regulation Department. He has served as a hydrogeologist in the Regulation and Data departments, and manager of both Geohydrologic Data and Resource Evaluation sections.
Mallams is a licensed professional geologist in Florida. He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental and geological sciences from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in hydrogeology from the University of South Florida.
