Land Use and Management Plans

The District adopts plans to ensure its public conservation lands are used and managed in ways that are consistent with Florida Statutes and the District’s mission.

Planning Process

District staff refers to Governing Board Policy 610-3 to guide the development of land use and management plans.

The process includes:
• Review previously adopted management plan (if any)
• Verify water and natural resource data
• Delineate management zones
• Review regional recreational supply and demand
• Complete land use matrix
• Obtain public input

Each plan details the natural resource and public use strategies and objectives for these lands over the next 10 years. District lands are open to the public and community input is vital in determining how these lands are managed and used.
