About Withlacoochee River Park
Pasco County operates this regional park near the Withlacoochee River. The District provides the county with the use of 146 acres of the Green Swamp – West Tract to accommodate riverfront access for the canoe launch, dock and 1.5 miles of hiking trails.
The Withlacoochee River Park offers visitors access to a wild and scenic portion of the river and a mosaic of habitat communities, from high sandhills to low riverine swamp.

Inline Skating
- Paved park road.
- Florida law requires bicyclists under 16 to wear helmets.
Bird Watching
- Site 63 on western section of Great Florida Birding Trail.
- Contact Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for more information.
Camping
- Primitive campsites available in various locations around park; contact the Withlacoochee River Park for more information.
- Free permit required to camp. Obtain from park office.
Fishing
- Fishing pier located adjacent to canoe launch.
- Contact FWC for license requirements.
Hiking
- 5.2 miles of trail developed and maintained by Florida Trail Association. Orange blaze symbols denote primary trail. Blue blaze symbols denote side trails. Double blazes denote a sharp turn in trail.

- Several additional miles of perimeter trails open for hiking.
Paddling
- Canoe launch (100-foot carry from parking area).
Park Facilities
- Park has playgrounds, 40-foot observation tower, boardwalks, recreation field and reconstructed 19th century fort.
- Authentic Native American villages constructed by Native American volunteers.
- ADA access and facilities available.

- Picnic shelters and large pavilion available.
- Reservations for southern shelter or pavilion made through park office.

Access and Parking
- From US 301 follow River Road east 5 miles. Follow pavement onto Auton Road. Park entrance 0.25 miles on left.

Restrooms and Water
Three restrooms, a compost toilet and drinking fountains available.
Dogs
- Dogs must be on a leash no more than six feet in length.
- Owners are requested to pick up after dog.
