Buddy Wood

Regulatory Support Bureau Chief

As bureau chief for the Regulatory Support Bureau, Buddy Wood is responsible for overseeing the Regulatory Business Development, Field Services and Regulatory Support Services sections within the Regulation Division and plays a key role in the District’s regulatory strategy, execution of tactical plans, permitting, compliance and leadership functions.

Wood joined the District in 2003 as a student intern and worked progressively through engineering positions in the Environmental Resource Permit and Water Use Permit bureaus. He has a unique understanding of the Regulation Division having worked closely with each of its bureaus, overseeing the work of assigned staff and student interns, coordinating closely with Regulation field services staff and participating in ePermitting testing and development teams.

Wood earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of South Florida and is a registered professional engineer. He is a founding member of the Tampa Toastmasters Club and is currently the treasurer. Outside of work, Wood exhibits leadership and mentorship while serving as the youth pastor at Willow Bend Community Church in Lutz.
