Learn more about the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve — West Tract recreation area.
The Southwest Florida Water Management District is working with Bass Pro Shops and the group “American Disability Adventures” to provide children of all abilities an opportunity to participate in a youth camping trip at the District’s Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve — West Tract property. The camping trip is scheduled for September 19–20.
Participants will learn how to set up camp and cook their dinner using a Dutch oven. They will also have the opportunity to experience archery, fishing, shooting an air rifle, outdoor photography and hiking along the Florida National Scenic Trail. Campers will be asked to provide their own sleeping materials, but all other camping gear will be provided by Bass Pro Shops.
Children ages 6 to 14 are encouraged to apply. Six boys and six girls will be randomly selected. Campers must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian. Applications are available online
