Who: Polk County residents, representatives from the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Polk County Extension office, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Department of Forestry and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
What:

The District is holding a free family-friendly event at the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve’s Hampton Tract in northwestern Polk County. The 11,052-acre tract features recreational opportunities such as hiking, bicycling, camping, fishing, picnicking and equestrian use.

The event includes activities such as guided nature hikes, children’s activities, scavenger hunts, a native plant raffle and more.

The District is inviting the community to “Get Outside!” and get to know the property so they can return with their friends and family.

When: Saturday, Feb. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additional Information: The public is encouraged to wear casual outdoor attire and closed-toe shoes.

Directions: The entrance to the property is off Rock Ridge Road, seven miles northeast of Highway 98, across from Deen Still Road.
